thanks, her voice is lovely, and she had this red hair that were so beautiful, do you have a clear photo of her exactly color? or a photo of someone else whom have similiar hair ? xx
Hi ya! I know! She had the sweetest voice. As for her exact color hair it is very hard to say because it depended a lot of how the lighting reflected in her hair, but I think the photos of Randy Ralston, may give you a pretty close idea of how it looked like. :) i’ll post them for you in another post. ;) x
In addition to a post asking what movies Pamela saw
The first movie Jim and Pamela, went to see for their first date, was ‘A man and a woman’, from Claude Lelouch, a famous 60’s French movie director. Pamela loved the movie and its romantic story. They also went to see with Pamela’s parents on cinema, ‘2001, a space Odissey’. They also watched several times, ‘A streetcar named desire’, and repportedly, Jim falled asleep, everytimes he watched it. Dating actors such as John Phillip Law, she very probably saw ‘Barbarella’. She was also on the set of Christopher Jones’s movie ‘the Looking Glass War’, so she most probably watched it.
Thanks for understanding my Pam macro! Some people wanted to kill me when I first put it up!
Hi! And oh really?? O.o People can be very strange… lol but anyway, yeah I thought that actually what you said about her is very true..
Pamela was a very strong woman, and had something I think quite fierce in her.. I don’t think that there is anything wrong to the fact she could be an ‘ass kicker’, etc, the fact she had this delicate, cute features and such a strong personality makes her even more fascinating to me actually. :)
It is an extract of the Ben Fong Torres Interview, Jim’s last known interview. It was recorded around January 1971, and Pamela talks a lot during the interview. If you’re interested in hearing the whole thing, send us a PM, I’ll find you the entire thing on youtube. ;)
Pamela had I think such a cute voice, very girlish, and soft, with a typical Southern Californian accent. She sounds like a little girl and had the most adorable laugh. :)
how was themis? what kind of stuff did she sold, and how was pam's style?
Hey! Ok, I’m telling you what we can tell, we can’t give too much details, but there will be lot’s of new details about your two questions in the book. ;)
Themis was a rather tiny boutique. La Cienega Boulevard at this time, was mainly an area with lot’s of art galleries and few boutiques.
Pamela was working there everyday with Tere Tereba, a young designer that Pam had found and recruited. Judi, Pam’s sister was also there and would help often. She would take care of the shop when every weeks or so, Pam went to Europe to buy some stuff for the shop.
The shop, was however more a place to hang out for Pamela and her friends, and you could often find her smoking some pot with her crowd there.
Themis, was from all accounts a gorgeous place. Initially, Pamela and Jim wanted to name it ‘Fucking Great’ and even printed business cards with this name, but changed their minds for unknown reason and named it Themis. It opened in December 1968.
The decoration of the shop was very beautiful. The ceilings had peacock feathers, there were velvet pillows to sit, perfumed candles, and all the doors and walls had a gorgeous sophisticated wood work on it.
Pamela selled very high end, extremely expansive clothes, that were quite ahead of their time. At this time, LA people were dressing in very casual, simple hippie clothes, when Pam would sell clothes that were very European, rock star style clothing.
She selled a lot of things, candles, belts, jewels, bags… Everything was, however extremely expansive. Pamela was generous, none the less and she would very often give for free some clothes of the shop to visitors.
Pamela had a pattern cutter upstairs, and a lot of things in her shop were from her own design or from Tere’s. She would also customize a lot clothes for customers. The other items were imported from London, Paris, Italy, India or Morocco.
The shop is quite notorious for the fact it didn’t selled much when it was opened, however, a lot of Hollywood crowd people came to shop here, in the early 70’s, including Miles Davis, Sharon Tate or Three Dog Night members.
As for Pamela, style she was always very stylish. Again, I can’t give much details but she always was ahead of her time. She was the first girl to wear boots in class, when she was a teenager and she used to wear lot’s of blue or mauve color. She loved French suede boots, was famous in town for her beautiful and expansive Italian shawls.. She used to wear lot’s of bell bottom pants, miniskirts, peasant blouses and loved big jewels or crystal jewelry (she was one of the first to wear this). She loved also things like dresses with Op Art print or tribal print, or full coats with raccoon collars.. She often weared too clothes from Morocco, like embroided vests or Persian slippers. She also loved designer clothes, from brands such as Yves Saint Laurent.
Hope I gave you unknown details! And thank you for writing us! ;)
